Ed's Introduction and Journey to Coffee Roasting
Posted on February 24 2024,
Coffee roasting is an art that requires precision, patience, and a deep knowledge of the beans' origin. As one who works in coffee roasting, the journey begins with working with the finest green coffee beans from different regions around the world. Each bean has its own unique flavor profile, influenced by factors such as altitude, soil, and climate.
What is the Roasting Process?
Roasting coffee beans involves applying heat to transform the raw green beans into the aromatic, flavorful beans we all love. The beans go through various stages during the roasting process, including drying, yellowing, first crack, and second crack. Each stage plays a crucial role in developing the beans' flavor and aroma.
How Did the Journey Begin?
As a novice coffee roaster, the journey began with a passion for coffee and a desire to understand the perfect cup. Learning from my Manager at Temecula Coffee Roasters, Colton Johnstone (Mountains to Waves Coffee), with different roasting techniques, profiles, and blends: I honed skills over time, learning from each batch roasted.
What Makes a Great Roast?
A great roast is a delicate balance of time, temperature, and technique. It's about bringing out the best flavors and aromas of the beans while maintaining their unique characteristics. Our roaster's dedication to quality and consistency ensures that each batch is roasted to perfection.
